Learn how to play Nocturne Op. 55 No. 1 by Frédéric Chopin on piano with this Synthesia piano tutorial! Please enjoy!

Chopin’s Nocturnes Op. 55 comprise the 15th and 16th of his nocturne set. The first of the Op. 55 is in F minor, offering a pensive and steady melodic progression in a ternary form. In typical Chopin fashion, the melody is elegantly elaborated and ornamented as the piece progresses, with a striking and dramatic B section to break up the beautiful pianistic poetry of the outer sections. Vladimir Horowitz performed this piece during his television debut in 1968, and it has also become a favourite of pianists throughout the world for its accessibility and depth of character. More recently, Blonde Redhead were inspired by Chopin’s Nocturne Op. 55 No. 1 in F minor in their song “For the Damaged”, writing the coda (“For the Damaged Coda”) with a very similar harmonic progression. This version appeared in Rick and Morty as Evil Morty’s theme.

This piano arrangement of Nocturne Op. 55 No. 1 is fantastic to play! You can learn it with our Synthesia piano tutorial, or from our official Sheet Music Boss sheet music at the top of the description!
