Learn Fantaisie-Impromptu by Chopin on piano with this tutorial! Please enjoy!

The Fantaisie-Impromptu was only published after Chopin’s death despite his wishes to keep all unpublished manuscripts private. It is possible that Chopin didn’t like the similarity to the 3rd movement of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, which uses the same descending melodic motif verbatim in the cadenza. The harmonic progression and construction of the Fantaisie-Impromptu can also be said to be very similar in parts to Beethoven’s sonata.

The popularity of Chopin’s Fantaisie-Impromptu remains strong to the current day. It is frequently performed in recitals and concerts and is among Chopin’s most performed works. We hope that you like our version of this beautiful piece!

Performed by Rafał Bienias
Edited by Andrew Wrangell & Samuel Dickenson
