Learn The Swan by Saint-Saëns on piano with this tutorial! Please enjoy!

Camille Saint-Saëns wrote The Carnival of the Animals as a humorous piece for private performances. With strange instrumentation of two pianos and an assortment of other orchestral instruments, The Carnival of the Animals was never intended to become a publicly performed piece, as Saint-Saëns believed it would detract from his more serious concert works and established image as a composer of art music. However, Saint-Saëns did mention in his will that The Carnival of the Animals was to be published following his death. The Swan is without a doubt one of the most well-known melodies in the Western canon of music, written for the cello. The soaring beauty of the opening melodic lines make the piece among the most loved of Saint-Saëns’ ouvre.

This piano arrangement of The Swan from The Carnival of the Animals was made by Lucien Garban and is available on IMSLP. You can learn using the sheet music there, or from our Synthesia piano tutorial in this video. Enjoy!
