Bizet’s Toreador Song is part of the Overture to one of the most well-loved operas of all time, Carmen. Toreador song is the ubiquitous song for the piece “Votre toast, je peux vous le rendre”. As the name suggests, the song is sung by the bullfighter as he enters in act 2. The song has appeared in popular culture: for instance, it was used as diagetic music in Five Nights at Freddy’s as a creepy music-box style tune to elicit terror. The Toreador Song has been rearranged countless times for different ensembles and is enjoyed around the world.
This piano arrangement of the Overture (including Toreador Song) from Carmen is by the composer, Georges Bizet, himself. It is quite difficult, but very rewarding and would be a stellar showpiece for a concert! Have fun!
