Do-Re-Mi is a song from the Rogers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music. Originally released in 1959, this famous showtune was written for the character Maria to teach the children how to sing the different pitches of the musical scale. All of the 7 main diatonic pitches from the solfège system appear throughout. Do-Re-Mi is among the most loved songs from American cinema and reached the top 100 of AFI’s 100 Years…100 Songs survey in 2004.

Lyrics:
Let’s start at the very beginning
A very good place to start
When you read you begin with ABC
When you sing you begin with Do, Re, Mi, Do, Re, Mi
The first three notes just happen to be

Do, Re, Mi, Do, Re, Mi
Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti

Oh let’s see if I can make it easier
Do- A deer, a female deer
Re- A drop of golden sun
Mi- A name I call myself
Fa- A long, long way to run
Sol- A needle pulling thread
La- A note to follow so
Ti- A drink with jam and bread

That will bring us back to Do, oh, oh, oh
Do- A deer, a female deer
Re- A drop of golden sun
Mi- A name I call myself
Fa- A long, long way to run
Sol- A needle pulling thread
La- A note to follow so
Ti- A drink with jam and bread

That will bring us back to Do, oh, oh, oh
Do- A deer, a female deer
Re- A drop of golden sun
Mi- A name I call myself
Fa- A long, long way to run
Sol- A needle pulling thread
La- A note to follow so
Ti- A drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do, oh, oh, oh
