We open in the rocky environs outside Midgar, with a narrow canyon to our right and a birds-eye view of the terrain. The land is sere and sterile. We follow a hawk as it glides into and over Midgar, catching a glimpse of a passing train and panning over the city architecture. We see people going about their daily lives โ€” and then, ominiously, a withered patch of dead grass. When you see it, you realize you havenโ€™t seen any living vegetation yet. The Bombing Mission theme kicks in shortly before the train pulls into the station and the action begins. Learn to play this intense and ominous theme with this awesome piano arrangement!

Ori and the Blind Forest is a platform-adventure Metroidvania video game developed by Moon Studios and published by Microsoft Studios. Players assume control of Ori, a small white guardian spirit, and Sein, the “light and eyes” of the Forest’s Spirit Tree. Players are tasked to move between platforms and solve puzzles. The game follows the story of when Ori, a white guardian spirit, fell from the tree during a storm as a newborn and was adopted by a creature named Naru, who raised Ori as her own. A cataclysmic event soon makes all of the forest wither, and Naru dies of starvation. Newly orphaned, Ori was left to explore the forest on their own. After collapsing near the Spirit Tree and being revived by it, Ori later meets Sein, a being in the shape of a small blue orb, who can attack harmful creatures, and guides Ori on a journey to restore the forest. The song heard in the main menu fills the player with emotion and, according to some, the game music actually helps the player feel a stronger bond between Ori and Sein. Featuring prominent piano and vocal leads, as well as bells and slow rising pads, the menu music will work its way into your mind and stay there for a long time to come, as will this beautiful piano arrangement faithfully performed by Sheet Music Boss.

This soulful and beautiful song has struck a chord with generations of listeners and it has appeared at several charity events and in movies and TV shows. On March 30, 2020 Bill Withers passed away, and we have arranged this piano tutorial as a tribute to him.
