Feel Good Inc. is a song by virtual band Gorillaz, featuring rap verses by De La Soul. The song was released as a single from the album Demon Days in 2005, and peaked at number two in the United Kingdom. Feel Good Inc. features half-spoken melodies, extensive syncopations and whimsical synthesized instrumentation, making it a challenge to transcribe, but a very rewarding piece to play on piano. The Star-Spangled Banner, written by John Stafford Smith with lyrics by Francis Scott Key, is the national anthem of the United States of America. The tune is based on a popular British song by Smith, written for the Anacreontic Society in London. Having a range of an octave and a fifth, The Star-Spangled Banner is notoriously difficult to sing. It is a quintessential display of American patriotism to sign this at the top of your lungs, so take a deep breath!

Paradise City is a song by Guns N’ Roses, written in 1987 for their debut album, Appetite for Destruction. It was written in the back of a rental van on the way home from a gig in San Fransisco. Paradise City is Slash’s favourite Guns N’ Roses song, featuring him playing an awesome guitar solo toward the end, which is transcribed out here, note-for-note in full for everyone to learn! Kalinka is a Russian song by Ivan Larionov, written in 1860 and first performed as part of a theatrical show by Saratov. Since it was written, Kalinka has turned into a staple folk tune for choral groups and is cherished in the Russian repertory. This virtuosic piano arrangement by Andrew Wrangell combines various beautiful flourishes with lush harmonies to make it the perfect concert opener! The State Anthem of the Soviet Union was composed by Alexander Alexandrov in 1930 for the Hymn of the Bolshevik Party. It was adapted from an older piece by the composer, called Life Has Become Better. The anthem is sometimes called “Slav’sya, Otechestvo nashe svobodnoye!” or “Be glorious, our free Fatherland!” and it replaced The Internationale as the anthem of the Soviet Union. Sergey Mikhalkov wrote the lyrics with Gabriel El-Registan. This majestic piano arrangement captures the strength and power of a full Russian chorus singing in glorious chorus!
