Please note that applications for editors are currently closed.

Piano arranger
Our requirements:

  • Solid piano skills (minimum: AMEB Grade 8 equivalent, higher skill preferred)
  • Solid aural skills (playing by ear)
  • Solid music theory knowledge
  • Piano keyboard that can input MIDI to your computer
  • Computer (PC preferred so we can train you effectively)
  • A copy of Cubase (preferred) or Reaper

These are also valuable to us:

  • Experience with Sibelius notation software
  • Ability to work conscientiously and independently
  • Appreciation for dank memes

Expected pay:

  • We pay per second of completed arrangement
    • The starting rate is to equal $24.00 USD per hour at expected working times
  • We expect that at peak efficiency, arrangers can create:
    • 1 minute of “easy” difficulty music in 10 minutes ($4.00 USD per minute)
    • 1 minute of “medium” difficulty music in 20 minutes ($8.00 USD per minute)
    • 1 minute of “hard” difficulty music in 30 minutes ($12.00 USD per minute)
  • For example, we’d pay $12.00 USD for a 3-minute “easy” arrangement and $36.00 USD for a 3-minute “hard” arrangement
  • We will hold a performance review six months after commencement in which pay rates may be adjusted
  • If you wish to discuss payment rates before starting, please mention this in the second last section of the application form

You can work at your own pace, as many arrangements as you are able to produce. However we do ask that arrangements are turned around within four days and that you submit at least one arrangement a week. We pay at the end of each month.

Our agreement will be “work for hire” in that you will assign the intellectual property of your Sheet Music Boss and Sheet Music Boss Easy arrangements and compositions to us in return for payment.

If you would like to be part of our team, we will ask you to send to us an application including the following:

  • Contact details
  • Two of your existing piano arrangements, including:
    • MP3 files (preferably your performance, not an export of something that was entered into your computer with just the mouse and keyboard)
    • MIDI files
    • Sheet music in PDF format (if available)
  • An outline of your musical experience
  • Availability
  • A meme that makes you laugh

We will keep your submitted arrangements confidential.

Important tips for your application: (updated based on our experience from past applications we’ve received)

  • Please read the requirements in full and make sure you submit exactly what we’re asking for.
  • The audio you hear on our channel is from us inputting every note by playing it on a MIDI keyboard, thus it has natural phrasing and character. We then export the resulting MIDI and use that as the basis for our sheet music. It’s very apparent to us if your Mp3 has been exported from a notation program because it does not have this natural sound.
  • Please make sure you submit a meme, not just a photo of you (or you and your friends). Unless it’s been made into a meme. But no, a straight-up photo is not necessarily a meme. If it’s not a meme, that tells us you probably need more meme experience.

If you would like to apply, please use the following link and we will contact you if we are interested. We look forward to receiving your application!
